This blog is all about being a mom trying to stay fit and not lose your mind all at the same time. Trust me it's harder then it looks to all those not there yet.
This blog is dedicated to all those moms who are running in 100 different directions. Whether it's work, the gym, baseball games, soccer games, gymnastics, library time, play dates. The list goes on.
I have a confession to make. My house on a regular basis looks like this...
Now before you pass judgement I need to defend myself. I clean my house on a daily basis. But I have three kids and the youngest you can see gets into everything. I'm a mom and I'm busy and my kids make messes and sometimes we don't have time to pick them up. That's life.
In fact I have to stop what I'm doing right now so I can make my kids there lunches, and then take my son to school because he missed the bus.
Are you the mom in the group that whenever you go to someones house it is always clean? you wonder how the heck every time they come to your house it's always a mess?!
Guess what! They have a messy house at least once a day as well. They just get a chance to clean before you do, or all there kids are in school. (I won't lie. I love my kids being in school)
So, for all those moms like me, here are five things you can do to keep yourself from breaking.
#1 Get Some Exercise
Those days where I have to forgo my morning workout routine go ten times worse then when I get to the gym. When I skip the gym I have all that extra time but I normally end up sitting in bed watching cartoons with the kids or making a mess of the kitchen. So that extra time I gave myself isn't helping me in anyway except making me lazy.
If you don't have a gym in your town or don't have a membership, go on a vigorous walk, run, buy some weights and workout at home. You can also do a lot of free weights exercises that are just as hard. There's some great apps for your phone that give you workout plans. Nike has a really good one, and it's free!
#2 Get Away
Once a week get away from the house without your kids. I choose to meet a friend at a local coffee shop and just sit and talk for a couple hours every Saturday morning. No husbands, no kids. Just some good old girl time.
#3 Get Ready for the Day
This is one I have to work on. Once I get home from the gym I have a tendency to stay in my gym clothes longer then I would like to admit. However when I take a shower and get dressed for the day I seem to get so much more accomplished. Now that doesn't mean you have to glam yourself up. I am not one to wear makeup everyday, and my idea of looking cute is jeans and a cute sweatshirt. You just need to get in the shower clean yourself up a little bit so that you feel beautiful.
#4 Make a Plan
I've said it before on this blog that I'm a planner. My kids are in to many things, and I am in my fare share of things in the community, if I don't write down my schedule for the week and everything that needs to be accomplished for the week I get overwhelmed. I have to take one day at a time. This also includes planning my dinners ahead of time, my schedule. I could do even better in this category by having my kids lay out there clothes the night before, and having lunches made.
#5 Make Sure You Supply your Body with Fuel!
I think this is the most important part and the one I struggle with the most. If you aren't supplying your body with fuel you will run out of energy. And the big part is the right kind of fuel. Avoid sugary treats. You want something with some protein in it.
Another thing people do is they only eat three times a day. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. I have learned from a very smart friend that you need to eat 6 times a day. Have breakfast, then a couple hours later a small snack. For me this is usually my protein shake. Three hours later have lunch. Have a snack a couple hour before dinner.
You also need to take a multi-vitamin. You are a mom and need to make sure you're body has the vitamins and minerals that it needs.
