Almond Butter is one of those things that I love but it is seriously expensive and I'm kinda a cheapo. Especially when it's something I can make at home. I had a recipe the other day that called for almond butter. I always have almond in my house so I pulled them out of the cupboard.
To make almond butter all you need are some almonds. That's it!
Simply put them in a food processor. It will take several... and several... and several minutes. You are going to process them till they turn into a paste. No need to add oil since almonds have natural oils that will start to disperse as you are processing.
Now lots of almond butters and peanut butters have sugar and other preservatives in them so that they are sweet and don't have to be refrigerated.
This almond butter has neither so you will have to refrigerate it and every time you go to use it you will need to mix the oils back in that have separated.
(If you want it to be sweet I recommend putting a little honey in it)
And There you have it! You have successfully made your own Almond butter!
