Making Pesto sauce from scratch is simple. All you do is put some basil, walnuts, lemon juice, garlic and olive oil in a food processor and process. So now when you want to go and spend the $5 on a good pesto make your own instead.
2 tablespoons walnuts
3⁄4 cup fresh basil leaves
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1⁄2 teaspoon salt, 1⁄2 teaspoon pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
1⁄4 cup olive oil
Put all the ingredients in your food processor and process till a puree and finely chopped.

We used this pesto to put on a whole chicken. What I did is separate the skin of the whole chicken from the meat and rubbed the pesto in-between the two layers. Then I put it in the crackpot with about a cup of chicken broth for seasoning and that was it. It was super yummy.
